Group Aim

Nanzan Dojo Australia aims to honestly practice the martial art (Budo) syllabus of the Genbukan World Ninpo Bugei Federation (GWNBF) and the Kokusai Jujutsu Renmei (KJJR) as taught by Soke, Tanemura Shoto Sensei and Shihan, Ron Tosen Sensei.

Additionally, Nanzan Dojo Australia aims to be a link to the Japanese martial arts of GWNBF and KJJR by preparing students for training in Japan at the Honbu Dojo, Tokyo Shibu Dojo or in Australia during seminars involving visiting instructors from Japan.

Background

Nanzan Dojo Australia became an officially registered dojo of GWNBF on 15th May 2004, however, Genbukan Ninpo Taijutsu and KJJR Jujutsu training commenced in Brisbane shortly after Gordon Simmonds and Robert Tierney returned from training at the Honbu Dojo and Tokyo Shibu Dojo in Japan for the first time in November 2000.

In November 2000 Soke, Tanemura Sensei and Shihan, Ron Sensei approved the opening of the training group in Brisbane and entrusted the training group leaders to maintain the customs and traditions of GWNBF & KJJR. The Dojo-Cho of Nanzan Dojo, Gordon Simmonds and Robert Tierney remain in good standing with the GWNBF and KJJR as black belt instructors.

Since the first training visit to Japan in 2000, the Dojo-Cho of Nanzan Dojo have continued to visit Japan annually for more training including several gradings in the different martial disciplines offered through the GWNBF and KJJR syllabus, such as taijutsu, jujutsu and traditional weapons.
